Lancaster Drive Balcony Restoration

Full Balcony Repair on Residential Complex, Welland, ON

In the fall of 2021, Canvas Engineering was retained to provide engineering condition assessments, along with structural rehab design and inspection services as part of a concrete balcony rehabilitation project on a nine-storey residential apartment complex in Welland, Ontario. Following the initial condition assessment phase, which revealed that extensive concrete repair work was required, Canvas worked closely with the restoration contractor throughout the construction phase to ensure that the balconies were properly restored to their original working condition. Following completion of all structural repair work, a new single coat urethane waterproofing membrane system was applied to every balcony which is specifically designed to help protect the new and remaining concrete. Lastly, the balcony guardrails were upgraded throughout, from a dated steel railing, to a sleek glass guardrail which helps modernize the building.
